This is an interactive map showing the proposed route. You can use the icons on the right hand side to zoom in and out, or use your mouse to zoom in and out and move around the map.
The proposed route would start north-west of Maesteg, at the location of the recently consented Foel Trawsnant Wind Farm, and would proceed as follows from north to south:
- From Foel Trawsnant Wind Farm to the top of King’s Terrace: Overhead line (OHL) on wooden poles (red line)
- Kings Terrace, Davies Terrace, Garnwen Rd, Tŷ Gwyn Rd, Neath Rd: Underground cable (blue line)
- From the junction of Tŷ Gwyn Rd and Neath Rd the underground cable heads northwest along Neath Rd for around 200m before taking the first left along the road to Maesteg Golf Club.
- At Maesteg Golf Club the underground line takes a left turn, along a track heading south-east before taking the second turning south-west down the hill towards Nant Sychbant.
- At the three-way junction with Nant Sychbant the undergound cable proceeds along the road to a point near Sychbant Farm.
- Near Sychbant Farm, the line again becomes overhead and generally travels southward to the Nant Y Castell area, between Castell Llangynwyd and Y Bwlwarcau, then up the hill to Craig Yr Aber woods, where it joins the existing grid network.
