Pennant Walters is developing the Foel Trawsnant wind farm Grid Connection

Pennant Walters is bringing forward proposals for the Foel Trawsnant Grid Connection in the Maesteg and Llangynwyd area of Bridgend CBC and parts of Neath Port Talbot CBC.

The 66kv line will run for around 4.4 km of this being overhead, and 5.1 km buried underground. The line would connect the Foel Trawsnant Wind Farm to the National Grid network.

Background

In April 2023, Foel Trawsnant Wind Farm was consented and, when constructed, will comprise of 8 turbines at 145m height to tip. The wind farm will be built on land to the north-west of Maesteg within the boundaries of Neath Port Talbot CBC.

Developments of National Significance

This grid connection proposal is classed as a Development of National Significance (DNS) and, as such, the application will be submitted to Planning Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW), who will decide whether to grant permission.

Although PEDW will ultimately make a decision on the grid connection application, Bridgend CBC, Neath Port Talbot CBC and the local communities are key consultees, and we are keen to hear their views on the proposals.
